Junior Product Developer | New York, NY

The Rachel Comey design team is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Product Developer to join our studio. This role oversees the end-to-end development of our collections—from initial concept through sample delivery—ensuring excellence in product execution, clear communication across teams, and seamless workflow management. Working closely with Design, Production, Patternmaking, our Atelier, and both domestic and overseas partners, the Product Developer plays a central role in bringing each collection to life.

 
Key Responsibilities

Product Development Support

  • Work closely with the Senior Product Developer to support the seasonal development process, including weekly touchpoints with the Design team to review timelines, materials, and overall collection flow.

  • Assist with the creation and upkeep of BOMs and other product documentation across all SKUs.

  • Support prototype and sample development, ensuring materials, samples, and information are prepared and organized at each stage.

  • Manage accurate data entry for line sheets and seasonal tools.

  • Prepare samples and fitting spaces for all fittings, contributing to an organized and thoughtful presentation.

  • Receive, label, and organize incoming samples, maintaining clear and orderly sample racks throughout the season.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Help track sampling milestones to keep development running smoothly and on schedule.

  • Assist with data entry for costing and internal documentation as directed.

  • Share updates with internal teams as needed, supporting clear and timely communication across departments.

Sample Room & Factory Support

  • Provide day-to-day assistance within the Atelier, helping maintain an organized, efficient workspace.

  • Support local sourcing efforts for trims, fabrics, and development components.

  • Maintain trim, lining, and material libraries in coordination with domestic factory partners.

  • Assist with factory-related errands and material drop-offs in Midtown.

  • Help coordinate shipping, receiving, and tracking of samples across all stages of development.

About You

  • Early experience in fashion product development, ideally within RTW, with a strong interest in craftsmanship and the technical side of product creation.

  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating a fast-paced, creative environment.

  • A thoughtful communicator who enjoys supporting cross-functional teams.

  • Curious, proactive, and eager to grow—someone who thrives in evolving, hands-on settings.

  • Passionate about materials, construction, and the development process that brings a collection to life.

Next year marks our 25th year as an independent design and manufacturing company based in Lower Manhattan. Since 2001, we’ve grown steadily thanks to our loyal customers and wholesale partners. We remain outside the center spotlight, cultivating creativity, fresh ideas, and collaboration—the qualities that make New York City unique.

 

Our in-house studio includes a full pattern and sample room with senior patternmakers skilled in draping and CAD development, as well as a cutting and sewing team led by master tailors. This year, We expanded our workspace to bring our merchandising, sales, and administration teams under one roof. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade, and we’re excited to grow into our next chapter together.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $45,000-$55,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
